In reality, after hearing about a few of their tricks, you may want to give up makeup entirely (and trust us, you probably look just fine without it). Lead traces can be found in your lipstick
With all of the recent news about lead contamination in water systems around the United States, you may have been worried about coming into contact with lead. Your water is probably clear, but your lipstick might not be. Don’t get too worked up, but be cautious!
Despite the fact that no one can ingest any amount of lead in any conditions, it has been discovered that some cosmetics firms use traces of lead in their lipsticks! Obviously, this may be harmful to one’s wellbeing, but it doesn’t seem that anyone has been seriously affected. However, this highlights a larger issue in the cosmetics industry. Cosmetics firms simply need a lot more regulation. Even at trace amounts, they should not be able to use anything as dangerous as lead in their goods. This is obviously unhealthy for women who use lipstick on a daily basis.
The Eye Cream Industry Is Essentially A Fraud
Have you ever been concerned that the skin around your eyes is getting wrinkly? Perhaps you’ve considered purchasing eye cream or “borrowing” some from your mother. Yes, eye cream is targeted toward older women, but even young women now use a small amount to keep the skin around their eyes firm and smooth. If you haven’t yet succumbed to the eye cream con, walk away from the makeup counter because it’s pointless to use. The active ingredients in eye cream are the same as those used in moisturizers! Using a high-quality moisturizer on your whole face should be suitable.
Makeup Goes Badf Faster Than You Think
Makeup has a much shorter shelf life than most women think. Fortunately, the warning signs are easy to find. You might note that the product loses its original texture or color, or that it doesn’t last as long without smudging. The rules for discarding your makeup items differ depending on the product, but anything you use around your eyes or lips should be handled with caution. The safest course of action is to purchase one product that you expect to use every day before it is finished; you will save money and you will use it up until it goes bad!
The majority of cosmetic companies target white women with their products
There were not enough choices from major makeup brands, so some niche companies started making cosmetics exclusively for black women. Also, ads for cosmetics have been criticized because they almost always feature white women. Cosmetics companies, hopefully, will recognize that ALL women, regardless of skin color, deserve to feel good and have some fun with makeup. More businesses should begin selling goods to a wider range of customers rather than marketing solely to women with light skin.
